What's Around Queenstown?

Heritage & History

Queenstown was one of Singapore’s very first satellite towns & was named after Queen Elizabeth II to mark her coronation in 1952.

Three years later, the neighbourhood found itself in the centre of the famous 1955 Hock Lee Bus Riots (Bus Drivers demonstrated against low wages & long hours) – right at the junction between Dawson & Alexandra Road! Some have also stumbled across old ruins rumoured to be abandoned WWII barracks hidden within the forest trails around the neighbourhood too!
